What’s Mental Health Awareness Week? Each year in May the UK comes together to raise awareness around the topic of Mental Health in hopes of getting everyone talking. This year the Mental Health Foundation has chosen ‘Movement’ as the theme, but what does that mean? Studies show that those of us who can ‘get moving’ have 12-23% lower levels of mental health problems, but what else can we do to improve how we’re thinking and feeling? Here are a few tips below from Mind;
" Your mental health is just as important as your physical health."
- Try and find ways to relax and do something you enjoy.
- Take a break if you need to focus on the present.
- Take care online or take a break from social media.
- Find ways to learn and be creative.
- Connecting with others and finding ways to make a difference.
Here’s how Giant is getting involved.
Mental Health awareness is at the forefront of our minds so there’s a few things we do year-round to help;
- We offer 24/7 access to an employee assistance program, completely confidential whenever you need it.
- In partnership with qualified psychologist DH Consulting, we also deliver regular webinars for our umbrella community focusing on real life matters that often impact our mental health. We cover topics such as Financial well-being, Beating Burnout and Physical Strength and Sleep.
On May the 16th the UK are encouraged to wear Green in support of Mental Health Awareness Week. We’ll be joining you all by wearing green all day and we look forward to sharing and seeing the photos on social media.
